Editorial Policy
Editorial Independence: Editorial decisions are based on the quality, validity, and relevance of the research, without influence from commercial interests or personal biases. Editors will recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest.
Editorial Transparency: NEJM commits to transparency in editorial processes and will provide reasons for editorial decisions upon request. Editorial policies, including peer-review processes, will be clearly communicated to authors and readers.
Editorial Evaluation: Authors are expected to submit their manuscripts via the online submission system provided by NEJM, following the journal's submission guidelines. Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial assessment to ensure that the manuscript aligns with the journal's scope and guidelines. Manuscripts that meet the initial criteria proceed to the peer-review stage.
Editorial Decision: The editorial team, taking into consideration reviewer feedback, makes an informed decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of the manuscript. Authors are promptly notified of the decision along with reviewers' comments.
